Mr. Tarver's Psychology classes have been researching how playing board games help increase Memory Formation and Cognitive Skills, while playing reduces stress and reduces the risk of mental illness.
Congratulations to Westside Superintendent, Mr. Scott Gauntt, for being named as the ASPA (Arkansas School Psychology Association) “Administrator of the Year!” This was a true surprise to him and we were able to keep it under wraps so that he had no clue that he was even nominated. He thought he was driving to Conway this morning to present the award to another one of our staff members! Thank you Mr. Gauntt for all you do for the students and staff in our district!!!

International Relations at WHS - Mr. Miller and his U. S. History class along with Mirina (Foreign Exchange Student) spoke via Google Meet to Mirina's classmates back in Switzerland a little about U.S. History while they shared about the difficult math test they had just taken.

Westside Consolidated Schools had the pleasure of hosting State Senator (19th District) and State Representative Dwight Tosh (District 38) on campus this morning. Senator Wallace and Representative Tosh visited Coach Nabors Civics class where they fielded some questions from our students. We also walked them around our building discussing our security updates at the high school and across the district. Thank you both for taking the time to come tour our school and serve your communities!!!
Warrior Band took the field Saturday at Cabot High School in their first competition of the marching season featuring their Atlantis - City Underwater show. The band scored straight 1's!!
Monday night, Sept. 25th at 6 o'clock there will be a Senior Parent night in the library. This meeting will cover senior information for graduation, yearbook, scholarships, college applications, financial aid information from an A-State representative as well as other information concerning this year.

Reducing chronic absence and its effects in our area schools is a community effort.
Last week Mayor Copenhaver issued a Proclamation as September 2023 as Attendance Awareness Month. We want all students to be empowered to success- and that requires being in attendance. Thank you to our area schools for making attendance a priority.

Congratulations to WHS Senior, Ashlee Henderson, for being chosen as an Arkansas FFA National Delegate. Ashlee will represent Arkansas at the 96th National FFA Convention as one of the delegates of the business sessions.
Ashlee and other Arkansas students attended the Arkansas FFA National Delegates training in Northwest Arkansas recently. The group toured the Walmart Home Office, sat in workshops about how Walmart operations are tied to Agriculture, discussed National Delegate Committees, ate dinner at Southern Food Company, participated in team bonding, visited with FFA members at the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences Tailgate, and attended FFA Day at University of Arkansas Razorback Stadium.
It's a great day to be a Warrior!
