WHS students have all been emailed information pertaining to their specific grade level schedule change information. 9-10 grades were sent yesterday and the 11-12 grades have just now been sent. Again, please do not contact the counselors for changes. Students should follow the directions they receive in their email.

WHS will be having a Virtual Open House for all students who have previously been in our building. This would primarily be for 9-12 grade students and parents, but 8th grade parents who cannot attend the on-site Open House on Aug. 10th can find teacher information here as well. **WHS Open House Information**
WHS will be having an on-site Open House for all 8th graders and new students to the district tonight from 5:30-7:30. We ask that when possible, limit the number of family members who attend this event so that social distancing can be maintained.
The COVID Ready to Learn Plan was approved by the Westside Consolidated School board on 8-9-21 with the following changes: Masks will be mandated for all students (PreK-12) and staff when social distancing is not available. Please ensure that all participants have a mask with them when they enter the building. The Virtual Open House is available for those who cannot attend in person at the following link.

WHS teachers and staff had a great day 1 of Capturing Kids' Hearts professional development. Day 2 is underway and going great. We are starting a process that will help us to better serve our students' social/emotional needs. We cannot wait to involve our students in this process when they return to our campus next week.

WHS Parents and Students,
The 21-22 WHS student schedules are now available an HAC accounts. Schedule change information for 9-12 grade students will be emailed to students next week. Schedule changes are not allowed to be requested by 8th grade students unless there is a conflict with school activities (athletics, band, etc…).

WHS student drivers,
Parking passes will be available beginning Monday, August 9th from 8:00am-3:00pm. They will be available through Thursday, August 12th during those same times. In order to receive a parking pass, students must have a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and their vehicle registration. The cost of the parking pass is $10.
**Westside administration reserves the right to suspend or revoke driving/parking privileges on campus due to student discipline infractions or safety violations committed by the student driver. No refunds will be issued in those circumstances.

Reminder:
Senior high football practice will resume at 7am Saturday morning.

This is a reminder that high school students can pick up their chromebooks on Friday, August 6 from 7:00am-7:00pm in the high school library. The only other opportunity to do this will be on Friday, August 13 from 7:00am-7:00pm. Chromebooks will not be given out during the 8th grade and new student Open House on August 10th.

**Important Information about parking passes for high school students**
Parking pass distribution was supposed to begin today, but the parking passes that were ordered have still not arrived.
Parking passes distribution will be CANCELLED until further notice. Once the passes arrive, we will notify parents and students of the new schedule. Please do not come to the high school for the parking passes until notification that we have received the passes. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Westside Varsity Cheer Team has been hard at work this week during camp bringing home a 1st place cheer and 2nd place chant! The team had 8 girls nominated for the All-American Cheer Team with Even Roedel and Gracie Lehman qualifying! Congratulations!

The Office of ERZ’s are proud to announce they are hosting regional ACT Bootcamps for Arkansas students in grades 9 -12. The bootcamps are free of charge. Football players and parents,
Jr high and Sr high football practice has been postponed for the next 10 days. Senior high will return august 7th and jr high will return august 9th. Practice times will be released at a later date

Westside High School held an AFA (Air Force Association) CyberCamp July 19-23. 16 students from grades 6th-12th participated in the camp. The camp is focused on cybersecurity defensive principles. Students learned cyber ethics, how to detect and defend threats on a windows machine as well as Linux, then ended the week with a CyberPatriot competition. The camp was made possible through a grant from the Arkansas Innovation in Computer Science School program.
